ONLY WITH YOU is a modern retelling of Emma, a Jane Austen novel, with the main character re-imagined as a teenage girl who is trying to set up her friend with an ex-boyfriend, only to have her friend display interest in the guy that Emma wants.
The problem with a retelling is someone is always thinking of your material as less than the original, which is always true because your retelling can never have all the elements of an original.
So I thought I’d do a retelling of Emma entirely in reaction GIFs, because at least my book will feel like more than that!

I just matchmade my governess and now she’s crazy happy. I must be some kind of matchmaking genius.
My friend Knightley doesn’t agree. Shows how much he knows. I will totally matchmake the crap out of someone and then he’ll have to admit I’m awesome. This girl seems hopeless. I’ll help her.
She thinks she’s in love with someone else,
but I’m going to bestow my good wisdom on her. She’s soooo lucky.

Ugh, why is Knightley getting in my face about this???? He sucks.
Oh no, he was right! Turns out the guy I tried to match my friend with is a total snob and a jerk. Now she’s all alone.
I’m so annoyed that maybe I was a little mean to my friends and now Knightley is giving me the cold shoulder.
I don’t why I care, I mean, why would I? Unless I love him. OMG. I love him.
Except he doesn’t love me. Oh crap. FML.
Oh wait, he does love me. Phew.
